MOLLER MECHANICAL INTRODUCTION: On the weekend of October 29th & 30th, we will host our 2011 GMA Moller Mechanical World Series. First, and foremost we would like to thank Art Moller, Chairman of Moller Mechanical, for sponsoring their fourth consecutive GMA World Series. Moller Mechanical designs, installs, and repairs Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration units, and has served New Jersey business, and residential customers for over forty years. Call Moller Mechanical for all your Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration needs at 201-894-0029. www.mollermechanicalservices.com MOLLER MECHANICAL SPONSORS IRONS & WOODS SWEAT SHIRTS Each year we offer sweatshirts designed for the Pennant Champions. As the season ended with The Slicers and Irons & Woods tied in points at 158.5, the Slicers won the pennant by the tiebreaker procedures in place, received a double bye, and earned the pennant sweat shirts. As a gesture of goodwill, Moller Mechanical this year will finance sweatshirts, also, for the entire Irons & Woods team, and distribute them to each Irons & Woods member at this year’s Awards Presentation on Sunday, evening following play. The GMA Moller Mechanical World Series marks the culmination of a long journey that started way back on March 26th in our season opening 21st Annual Polar Bear Open at Sea Oaks. Now seven months later only four teams, the cream of the crop, remain standing, as the weaker teams have fallen by the way side. In the final leg of this journey, three World Series Contenders will experience the bitterness of defeat, and unfortunately in this final confrontation, there is only room for one team to bask in the glory, and sit at the Champions Throne, and bring home the famous Red Lion Trophy! II. WORLD SERIES GENERAL REVIEW: In 2005, to better test the metal of the eventual Moller Mechanical GMA World Champions, a 36-hole contest was established, and each team will play the same team opponent in match play in both rounds. In the World Series the three advancing survivors of “Bloody Sunday”, the Semi-Finals, and the No. 1 Seeded Pennant Champion Slicers will comprise the field. Each team will play the same team opponent in match play in both rounds.
On Saturday, October 29, at Sea Oaks each team will be represented by 6 players that will form three, two-player squads to battle their opponents in match play. On Sunday, October 30, at Sea Oaks, each team will again be represented by 6 players that will compete solo as individuals, in this round, and battle the same team, in match play. Over the two days, the two teams that lose more of their nine matches (3 on Saturday & 6 on Sunday) are eliminated. Of the two teams that survived, and won their two-day overall matches, the team with the lowest two-day combined 9 net scores (3 team scores on Saturday plus the 6 individual net scores on Sunday) will be our 2011 GMA Moller World Series Championship Team. III. SATURDAY MATCH FORMAT: TEAM PLAY The competition format on Saturday is TEAM PLAY, and is structured as follows. Each team is comprised of three, two-player teams, and this will result in three matches against your opponents. Team Captains must designate their A, B, & C teams by any method they choose, and their A Team will face their opponents A Team, and naturally their B Team will face their opponents B Team, and C will face C. IV. SUNDAY MATCH FORMAT: INDIVIDUAL PLAY The competition format on Sunday is INDIVIDUAL PLAY, and is structured as follows. Each team is comprised of six, individual players playing solo, and this will result in six matches against your opponents. Team Captains must designate their A, B, C, D, E & F players by any method they choose, and their A Individual will face their opponents A Individual, and naturally their B versus B, C versus C, and so, on. V. DETERMINING VICTORY: The Individual and Team Matches will follow the same rules we have utilized all year. A. Team Matches will use the two-point system, we have used all year, which awards one point for the Low Net Individual per hole in the foursome, and one point for the Low Team Aggregate per hole. As done all season, there will be no ties in Team Play as aggregate scoring will decide all ties, and strokes for the match will be played as ticked on the scorecards. B. Individual Matches will be awarded to the player who wins the most holes. As done all season, in Individual Play ties will remain ties, and strokes for the match will be played off the lower handicap. C. Determining Which Team Wins the Nine Matches: 1. If you win more of these nine matches than your opponent, (a point for wins, and a half point for ties), your team advances. 2. If you lose more of these nine matches than your opponent, your team is eliminated. 3. If you are tied in matches, see the World Series Tie Breaker Below. D. World Series Tiebreaker: To break ties, teams will add up all their nine match scores (Team Net Best Ball A + Team Net Best Ball B + Team Net Best Ball C + Player A Net + Player B Net + Player C Net + Player D Net + Player E Net + Player F Net) to arrive at their Cumulative Team Score. The lowest Cumulative Team Score wins. If tie we will compare each team’s Cumulative back nines. If still tie, then we will compare there last 6-hole scores. If still tie then the last 3-hole score. If still tie then we will start a rollback from 18, 17, 16, etc. For example: Let’s assume that the AGB’s team scores are net 64, 68, 70 on Saturday, and their four six individual scores on Sunday are 69, 72, 75, 80, 80, 80 then their Cumulative Team Score is 64+68+70+69+72+75+80+80+80 = 658. E. Determining the 2011 GMA Moller Mechanical World Series Champion: At the conclusion of Sunday’s play two of the six teams will have been eliminated after having lost their nine-match contest and two will have won their nine-match contest. Of the two teams that won their matches, the team with the lowest Cumulative Team Score (See World Series Tiebreaker above) will be our 2011 GMA Moller Mechanical World Series Championship team earning a free trip for up to six players to attend our 2012 Masters tournament held the following spring. The trip will include hotel accommodations for two nights, greens fees, cart fees, prizes, all surcharges, taxes, and gratuities. The prizes are not transferable.
Each year these tees are reversed. Last year at Ballamor Golf Club it was shorter tees on Saturday and the longer tees on Sunday. For the four years that we have held the GMA World Series at Sea Oaks, their management has followed our instructions to position the tees to play to the yardages of their score card, as listed below. 1. Saturday’s Team Round: All players will hit from the Blue Tees: (6,635 yards, rating 71.5, slope 136). 2. Sunday’s Individual Round: All players will hit from the White Tees: (6,330 yards, rating 70.1, slope 129). VIII. EARLY PAY PRIZE LOW NET EARLY PAY PRIZE: If you pay in advance, it certainly helps us. Over the two days the Lowest-One-Day-Net-Score of any player, live or a consolation player, who paid in advance will earn a free round for two players at a very solid course to expire on 12/31/12, so the pass can be utilized next year.
At the 2006 GMA World Series at Harbor Pines, the pace of play was so dreadful we were unable to rebook that venue for 2007. In 2010, the pace at Ballamor was so poor we couldn’t return for the 2011 Series. The Pace Committee was more leaning towards banging people in the Post Season. I was very gun shy of doing that, however, I do understand their positions. We clocked times at Great Bear both days, and will clock times again at Sea Oaks on both days, and that information will be assessed in the offseason, to determine penalties. If you punish the field with slow play either day, don’t coming running to us for early times next year. In addition, a member of the Cheap Hookers involved in two back-to-back rounds of a 30+ minute lag times at High Bridge Hills, and then again at Great Bear, will ABSOLUTELY AND POSITIVELY be suspended for from 3 to 6 of the first events of 2012. If you consistently play at a dreadful pace in the Finals because you know we aren’t going bang you, don’t complain if you get suspended from next year’s start. At Great Bear on Saturday, and Sunday last week, the early groups did fine however, some of the latter groups had horrible lags.
PACKAGE: Reserved tee time, a confirmation notice, greens fees & electric cart, a care package each day, fine cigars both days. In addition, all players have an opportunity to win consolation prizes, and / or win the prestigious hardware bestowed to the 2011 GMA Moller Mechanical World Series Champions. The World Champs will, also, be presented a bottle of champagne, and a dozen “big boy” victory cigars. The 2011 Moller Mechanical GMA Champions Hardware will be presented to the team after the day of the event since we will be utilizing photographs taken at the event, to be used in assembling the 2011 Hardware. The Champions will leave Sea Oaks with the prestigious Red Lion trophy.

For instance your first ball put into play could have your initials, and one dot. The second ball in play could be marked with two dots, etc. Wednesday 9/26 Go Go Breif Report: AGB's SEND I&W TO NURSING HOME Bad weather forecasted for W.S. Weekend will hamper Irons & Wheel Chairs the most... Those Old Timers of the Wheel Chair Brigade aren't exactly Spring Chickens... Young Spring Chicks are better equiped for foul weather... I like Johnny Cave Man, The Sock Man and Walter B in the rain... In the rain, the lower caps experience will shine, and Granpa's Grouchy Heroes will struggle... Plus the rain lengthens the track & makes those Adult Diapers more uncomfortable... On Saturday, the AGB's & Wheel Chairs matches will be tight... Come Sunday, Professor Go Go figures AGB's Big Guns will smash I&W to pieces... SLICER NATION Huck Finn's Slicers won in 2010... Then Slicer Nation added two top free agent Warriors: Baron von Hagiwara & Killer Kelly... They have what the Old Evil Empire Had: Experience, Balance & Confidence... I like the Big Mac, Congressman Simon & Mr. Sarno in big games but the team lacks the Balance factor... To win the Series you need a balanced attack on Sunday... You need 6 Bad Ass Horses... Slicer Nation will defeat the Links overall, and repeat their Title as GMA World Champions... AGB's will finish a very close second, after whipping the Wheel Chairs...
1. READY GOLF PROGRAM: If you are scorekeeper and you have honors, hit first & tally while others are hitting! 3. POSTING SCORES: Before play begins switch scorecards with your opponents. On the Official GMA Scorecard you will be recording your opponent’s scores, and they will be recording yours. Never record or make adjustments to your own Official Scores that your opponent is tracking. Once your scores have been signed and turned in they cannot be changed. You should keep count of your opponent’s scores. 4. MARK BALLS: Put identification marks on balls put into play. If you can’t identify it as yours, it’s lost. 5. MODIFIED MAXIMUM TIME SEARCHING FOR A LOST BALL: A person has ONLY 3 MINUTES to locate a lost ball. Once the 3 minutes have elapsed the search is over, and even if the ball is to be found, it is classified as a lost ball. Players who continue to search beyond the 3-minute mark by ignoring opponents should be reported to management. 6. GIMMIES: Absolutely, positively, no gimmie putts, under any circumstances!!! 7. MAXIMUM SCORE: You may pick up on a hole and record a maximum score. Record a net 4 over par as your net score, and if you were receiving any handicap strokes on the hole add them to calculate your gross score. For Example: If you pick up on a par 3, and you were getting one handicap stoke on this hole: Net = 3 + 4 = 7 Gross = 3 + 4 + 1 = 8 8. MODIFIED LOST BALL RULING & PROVISIONALS: When a ball is assumed to be lost or out of bounds you may hit a provisional ball, or you may simply drop a ball two club lengths from the position the ball entered trouble, no closer to the hole, and add a two stroke penalty from that spot. If it was your tee shot for example, you would be lying three and hitting four. When you lose a ball and have not hit a provisional, you are not allowed to return to the original position where you hit the shot initially from. NEVER GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SPOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Going back to your original position will incur a maximum score penalty for that hole. Simply drop a ball two club lengths from the position the ball entered trouble, no closer to the hole, and add a two stroke penalty from that spot |
