LOCAL RULES

The following local rules are in effect for all Brickyard Senior Golf Series events.

Tournament Check-In –
Players must check-in and pick-up their scorecard a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their designated tee time.  Players must be on the first tee at least 10 minutes prior to their assigned tee time.

Dress Code, Alcohol and Conduct
– All members, caddies and spectators shall dress in an appropriate manner at all Series events and related functions.  Shirts with collars will be required.  Shorts shall be of at least Bermuda length.  Denim jeans or shorts will not be permitted.

All players and/or their guests shall conduct themselves in a responsible manner at all times.  Any excessive display of anger, vulgar language, club throwing, alcohol abuse, lack of golfing etiquette or disrespect to a fellow member or any other individual shall be grounds for disqualification from any tournament events.  The Series reserves the right to revoke the entry of any individual at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the Series.

Protecting the Field -
It is the responsibility of every player to protect the field if a rules violation has be observed.  Rule 1-3.

Identifying Ball –
The responsibility for playing the proper ball rests with the player.  Each player shall put an identification mark on his ball.

Pace of play – Upon completion of the round, members shall immediately notify scoring that they have completed the round. All members in a group finishing more than 12 minutes behind the group in front shall incur a one-stroke penalty. Members finishing more than 18 minutes behind shall incur a two-stroke penalty.

A group is out of position if it:

(a) is more than twelve minutes behind the group in front or IF the first group, more than 12 minutes behind the pace of play established on the scorecard.

(b) reaches the tee of a par 3 hole and the hole is clear, fails to clear the tee of a par 4 before the preceding group clears the putting green, or arrives at the teeing ground of a par 5 when the preceding group is on the green.

Pace of play will be monitored throughout the round, not only at the end of the round. If a group has been given an official warning,  the group has twenty minutes to close the gap in front of them and the following procedure will be followed:

1) Group shall play ready golf, forgoing honors.

2) Group shall use continuous putting while on the green. Each player shall hole out prior to the next player starting to putt.

Penalty - One stroke, each member of group

Cellular phones/pagers –
Outgoing or incoming use of cellular phones/pagers at anytime during the round is strictly prohibited, including iPods, MP3 players and the like. All electronic devices, other than range finders, shall be turned off during play.

Penalty – 2 strokes per violation

Provisional Ball

Many times it is not possible to determine if an area is marked as a hazard or not, particularly off the tee. Whenever in doubt as to whether a ball may be in a hazard or not, because there are no discernable hazard markings, ALWAYS hit a provisional ball in the event that the original ball may be lost outside a water hazard. If, upon reaching the area in which the original ball landed, it is in fact, marked as a hazard, then all of the options under Rule 26 are still available to you. If you elect option 26-1a then you must play the provisional ball. DO NOT go back and play a THIRD ball.

When putting a provisional ball in play, the player must CLEARLY state that it is their intention to play a provisional ball and MUST identify how the provisional ball differs from the original ball.

Range Finders – Range finders are permitted per Decision 14-3/0.5

Q.  Is it legal under the Rules of Golf to use a Rangefinder or other EDM device?

A. The Committee may, by Local Rule, permit the use of devices that measure distance only (i.e., the device may not be used to measure other conditions such as wind-speed or the slope of the ground). (Decision 14-3/0.5)

A Local Rule allowing the use of distance-measuring devices that are capable of gauging or measuring other conditions is not authorized.

Q. Is it legal under the Rules of Golf to give distance information to a fellow-competitor?

A. Information on the Rules, distance or matters of public information, such as the position of hazards or the flagstick on the putting green is not advice.
